Day 331 - Tears of a Generation

Someone began to weep from across the sea

And the tears began to rain down on me

The green and gray clouds began to bruise

The sky who has lost all its happier hues

Yet light peaks out in the misery

On the horizon is a new spree

One that is spreading education

Across the small and even the great nation

We have had to weep for a generation

But starting tonight we will weep in elation

A note from the Poet:

Today World AIDS Day and this post is in honor of that. This post represents the hope that in 2015 not a single child will be born with AIDs. This post represents hope for a healthier world, with less poverty and disease.

Day 272 - This I Believe אַנִי מְאֲמִין

This I believe אַנִי מְאֲמִין

I stand for secrets unseen

Moments that fade to deepest gold

Tales, tugging at pens, to be told

From the heart of a holy place

Without regards of religion or race

Bonds that break such boundaries

Completing the unity in communities

Across the world and all around

The sweet, true, filling sound

Of songs that fly in peace

So that horror shall decrease

As צְדָקָה justice strongly thrives

Echoing הַתִקְוָה the hope of our lives

אָנֹכִי מְאֲמִינָה this I believe

Into our hearts joy we shall weave

אַנִי - I (modern Hebrew) ani

אָנֹכִי - I (anceint Hebrew) anochi

מְאֲמִינָה - believe (female) m'a-minah

מְאֲמִין - believe (male) m'a-min

הַתִקְוָה - the hope (הַ proceeding a word means "the") ha-tikvah

צְדָקָה - charity, (from the core of the word justice) tz'dakah

Day 255 - Net It!

You there! No need to sweat it

I just want you to go out and net it!

Cover that bed in hole-y whiteness

Redecorate your consciousness with brightness

One life can light up the entire Earth

One girl's laughter of extreme mirth

One boy who slept soundly last night

One without a single dangerous bite

Try this net every single day

Instead of the Internet on which we play

Make a difference someone won't forget

Save their life with a net

If any of this sunk into your head

As you lounge in your soft bed

Make someone else feel so warm

Where in bed safety is the norm

You there! Do you finally get it?

Yeah? Then go! Go out and net it!
