Day 71 - Malicious Path

Malicious Path
I am lasting out in this unreasonable heat
The final moments of the season you will not cheat
I will divide you from what should be
I am the last bit that you will see
Of the expanse that once drenched everything
The lonely tiredness before being blasted with spring
There is meaning in what I alone can be
The hint of a malicious calamity
That soaks your world in total black
Swerving down the cold and narrow track
That the shadows hide so well
The entrance to your own personal hell
That hides within the growing boredom
That is the remains of a ruined kingdom
Oh yes I still wait to sabotage you
Will you manage to make it through?

Day 52 - Frozen Hopes

Frozen Hopes

You drenched the sweet girl that day
In candy-coated compliments
She wept with a quiet "thank you" to say
And dwelled on such short moments
But now you leave her all alone
And she ices over cold as stone
The beauty that once colored her face
Has torn away to other lands
She is frozen in the same wretched place
Giving in to your cruel demands
She spends her days quieter by and by
Until she cannot even see the gray sky
She has darkened under that white
Now hardier than she was before
Better to make it through the night
Readying herself for what may be in store
Hoping she will discover one final spring day
Showing you did mean all that you used to say

Day 37 - Winter or Summer?

Winter or Summer?

You can see little beyond this sight
Ground and air all swirling with the white
That transforms the world into quietness
Of the hustle and bustle there is much less
Each branch with snow it has come accustomed to holding
The sun is taken away to some far off corner for scolding
By Mother Nature who insists loudly
"Now is the season for snow to stay," proudly
Yet far from this all powerful decree
The sun still shines oh so brightly
There Mother Nature has declared it just right
For a breathtaking, hot summer night
Can you imagine a February of intense heat,
Flowers in full bloom smelling so sweet?
That is the way they find it each year
In places that are far away from here
So when you feel chills down to the bone
Remember somewhere there is another tone
There amidst the air is swirling warm light
With little to see beyond that sight

Day 28 - Cold Yet Not to the Core

Cold Yet Not to the Core

Warm shadows and sun shine through
But it is colder than you ever knew
There sits a charade, ice posing as glass
Waiting for the final moment to pass
Then ice can grow into a mighty raging river
Cold and willing to call on every forgiver
Even in times when the message is false
It disregards all voices with a pulse
But that is only what you see on the surface
The core of the matter you swiftly dismiss
For it is colored the same shade all the way through
But that is not the only reality that is true
Ice can reflect out the brightest of light
Or keep you shivering into the night
Leaving that door so slightly ajar
Has already gotten you this far
Next time manage to hide your own disaster
Do not come and attack my forever after
