Day 276 - Showering Silver

Pour silver from the heavens here
Magic to revive the whispering creek
Wisdom with a message so clear
The stones themselves seem to speak
Of secrets from the era of unicorns
Ages of kings announced by fanfares of horns

The riches found here are liquid desires
Soaking melodies of flute playing bards
Until they spin tales over the fires
Which glisten like a billion shimmering shards
As silver pours from the sun's embrace
Across this sacred enchanted place

Day 222 - Water Women

Lay me down in the waters.
You see there is the space
For the procession of daughters
Whether dark or fair of face.
The ritual you dream of at midnight
Is only minutes away.
For nothing is more out of sight
Than a procession in midday.
The swirling skirts of mystery
Will rustle against the rocks
Praising past instances in history;
Weeping at the memory of pox
Every instant is passed down here
That ever happened to a woman
Ever searching for the incoming seer
Are they, to save the future of their kin
You will not spy them, though
Just see the ripples as they enter
And there away they shall go
In and out of the universe's center.

Day 171 - Promise of Horrors

Layer me up in blankets of black
That creep with shadows as their name
Tell the fools I am never coming back
That nothing will ever be the same
Windows will shutter themselves tight
Blocking out the once welcoming light

I will move slyly onward sill to sill
Cloaked in disguises they can never break
Doing whatever it is that I will
For none but my very own sake
Black and soaring as the crow
Transforming all that they used to know

Day 83 - Hiding Happiness

Hiding Happiness
Do not cross or you might see
The answers they hide from you and me
Cross over and you shall be free
To discover the secret to being happy
“Stand behind yellow line”
Everything will be just fine
Follow every last simple sign
Ignore what it is for which you pine
Worn away from the feet that step upon it
There is black marked and scarred on it
But those who dare to step all the way
They have far too much to say
That is silenced by the dark track
They went far away and never came back

Day 59 - Safety

Safety
Danger looms in every corner beware!
It insidiously grows up from the white
Looking to trap and slowly ensnare
All those who have sweet dreams at night
It comes in the form of sparse vegetation
Urging on many a heart racing sensation

Just behind these dangers lies protection
That everyone most desperately seeks
Though to retrieve it you must go another direction
Sometimes for days or perhaps even weeks
But all these struggles are worth it they say
To keep you dry on that coming rainy day

If only you could grasp the peace from here
Not watch in longing as it narrowly flees
If only you could conquer that pernicious fear
That blocks out the courage to wander through trees
And take what is yours in the long fair scheme
But from this stance that all appears only a dream

Day 44 - Hotel Curtains

Hotel Curtains

Gaze off into the morning's light
Shake of the moments from last night
They only hold memories of sweet caresses
And longing strokes of your lavender scented tresses
There was not some greater meaning hidden deep inside
Just sweet nothings in our ears, because my love we have to hide
Hide away from all the things they said we could be together
For one day you and I shall go and then be alone forever
No light will shine in to paint your soft breathing
Shadows now only hint at that leaving
Our hotel nights are only fantasies
Now is the time for realities

Day 37 - Winter or Summer?

Winter or Summer?

You can see little beyond this sight
Ground and air all swirling with the white
That transforms the world into quietness
Of the hustle and bustle there is much less
Each branch with snow it has come accustomed to holding
The sun is taken away to some far off corner for scolding
By Mother Nature who insists loudly
"Now is the season for snow to stay," proudly
Yet far from this all powerful decree
The sun still shines oh so brightly
There Mother Nature has declared it just right
For a breathtaking, hot summer night
Can you imagine a February of intense heat,
Flowers in full bloom smelling so sweet?
That is the way they find it each year
In places that are far away from here
So when you feel chills down to the bone
Remember somewhere there is another tone
There amidst the air is swirling warm light
With little to see beyond that sight

Day 30 - Screen Saver Secrets

Do not come closer you may not see!
Why are you invading my privacy?
This is for my eyes not yours
Go off and do some of your petty chores
You would not understand if I showed you
Instead you would look right through
The artistic display of what lies before my eyes
You would only look for the saucy surprise
Here typical moments would simply not suffice
But for what is hidden you would pay a steep price
Is it not better if you never express interest?
Stop making yourself into such a pest!

My hands are on the keyboard in plain sight!
Why do you look at me as if it were a cold dark night?
I am not warming myself up with a pretty word
In fact not a single uncouth sound was heard
Even as I scanned the more graphic of results
I have found in myself not one of the faults
That your eyes accuse me of right in this moment
All your great lines are over and poorly spent
Go back to your own place I am hiding from you
And there is not much left for you to do
Next time you want to join me why do you not ask?
Then I can pretend I was busy with some other task!

Day 6 - Beauty Believer

Dedicated to Simone
Beauty Believer

Messages burnt into parchment so old
With hidden secrets that whisper just right
Forgotten tales that wish to be told
Of the angry and long lasting fight
Fear grows like flames in the hearth
Begging for the redeeming birth

Poetic love letters remain unread
Holding the key to the resolution
They remain within the bark instead
As time grows around, a true infusion
Of the power that love possesses
And the memory of final caresses

The circle burnt just so is an ancient brand
Making the small town's legacy
They had owned the many acres of land
And built the endless shops and famous library
But at the edges burned in the lighter shade
Was a memory that few would not let fade

It was the mark of a small family farm
That catered to those of higher worth
They kept the legacy far from harm
But were naturally of inferior birth
So when the love was made between two
There was not much the families were willing to do

So this was the last mark the lovers dare leave
Within the tree that kept them so safely hid
In a better time they could not believe
So on their memories they closed the lid
And left no other visible traces
Except perhaps the lost looks on their faces

But such stories last long after we die
And even after our children fade away
They are stronger than the word of you and I
And have a great many more things to say
But twisted in tree trunks that out live us all
That is where the final one will begin to fall

It starts with a swift glance and sweet joy
And a dance with skirts just a-twirl
With the interested eye of a young boy
And the smile so kind on the clever girl
Then the young soul comes along all aglow
With nothing but a bright heart to show

And he is then ready to search for beauty
When in his world her light is shining
He finds a story that spurned from duty
Though the language has a way of reminding
Him of the love he holds for his darling
Something so pure, he found in falling

Day 3 - Eye of the Beholder

Whispers of dread fill the dull sky
Fading between lines of slumbering trees
Farther away you hear a small cry
That is brushed away on a gentle breeze
This wintry wonder holds not an ounce of hope
It refuses your pleas to find a method to cope
With the nightmares that never cease
Rather mere wisps of light fill your view
They are dwarfed by despair and lack peace
The darkness shrouds all else from you
But now it changes as we look for the white
You can just feel the coming of light
Far in those trees the crying has come to a halt
You find a small smile playing softly on your face
Someone has labored to stop the sad fault
And release the anger that had in kindness no place
You appreciate now the darkness as serene
Knowing the glory in what is heard, though unseen
