Day 264 - Sunflower Fields Fading

The years grow shorter and tired now
Petals close upon memories that set with the sun
Away from the summer light life pulls you
Your own princess begins her journey
And your energy is used up helping her
As she bursts into bloom the way all children do
It is your laughing husband spinning his daughter about
When you return to your quiet sunflower fields
It is making way for life, as it surrenders its own

You are still learning from this place even today
Wrapped in a cardigan in hopes of not fading with the wind
Your precious flowers have had a long life of brightness
They with time grow less stocky and you find yourself following suit
You show your daughter how to eat the delicious seeds
And she laughs out loud, shaking them for music, growing faster every day
You slide some seeds under her pillow tonight, for sweet dreams
And under your own as you used to save pressed petals in your books
Planning to take them out to bring your field to life again, you smile

Day 240 - Inner Reflection

Calmness soars around me here
Wisps of aura can be discovered flying
In this place where I exterminate fear
Past all the hills of endless crying
I gaze into the depths of my soul
Past shadowy fields and many a rainbow
Until I find a balance that makes me whole
And my breathing becomes soft and low
A thrum builds in my quiet breast
Peace in this physical insanity
Empowering my heart and feeling blessed
Trusting the spinning of my humanity
Strung as pearls on a perfect chain
In a spiraling galaxy of my being I gave in
To the platinum grasses and the glowing plain
Whispering how to be set free and begin
The levitation of all that I possess now
Above this cozy seat I know so well
I discover my body never need again bow
It has so many secrets it is happy to tell
In vibrant shades of black at my silent request
Through echoing cold white tunnels I will traverse
All to be welcomed to a loving flowing rest
As sweet as any in this floating universe

Day 180 - Ready

Distress lies across this chair
In the form of limbs and veins
You think you might possibly care
But not enough to steal away my pains
That float in the watery eyes that are mine
But yes I am willing to say I am doing just fine

Has the world wearied of such expressions
That only open the door on more regressions
That in better days were left out on the cold porch
But have since set fire to the house with a single torch
They left me inside the building to burn until I am only ash
Each cruel word has the bite of a leather whip's infuriated lash

Here I lay letting go of it all my wrist wrapped in pink
Maybe someday they will remember or even stop to think
What happened to the boy whose eyes were always closed tight
Even when the world tried desperately to share some form of light
Their answer will have fallen to the bottom of a dusty pile of memory
For at the end of it all only I could outlive what they chose to think of me
