Day 359 - Top of the World

I stood perched on top of the world at sunrise
And it revealed glistening white majesty
That flashed in the clouds and bright blue skies
The wonder of birds flying free

I stood perched on top of the globe at sunset
Watching the orange glow spread out in rays
The glowing life is something I will not forget
Not until the end of my dream soaked days

I stood perched on the top of the earth at dusk
To better understand the graying sky above
The aromas of death and the living musk
It told me a tale of the deepest love

I stood perched on the top of my soul at birth
It had a melody that sang for years to come
It held sunrise, sunset, dusk and all the earth
Painted by God and the angels; the eternal memorandum

Day 346 - Cage Match

One corner and another
We are held back from each other
The announcer comes over the speaker
The likelihood of a fair fight becomes bleaker
And so the match begins now
Can we make it out some how?

Day 301 - To the Ocean

Meet me in the ocean
To wash away our tears
In the blue depths that will dwarf them
As the skies dwarf the stars

Footsteps wash away in the blink of an eye
But our memories of the sea side last forever
There they are pulled back under the tide
White foam and bubbles appear as the sea laughs
Joy of the water shapes our shorelines
As your smile shapes my laugh lines
Meet me in the ocean

Day 295 - Lines in the Air

Follow that line into oblivion
We can travel anywhere
Somewhere no one else has found
We can walk off until the horizon shrinks
Because we have met a corner of the world

We made it all the way to the top
Of this sphere that is always turning
And the tiny icicle like clouds
They are each filled to the brim (and beyond
Their fluffy borders), with magic undiscovered

Today someone set the world afire
And burned our memories with beauty
That is inconceivable except
To those who have gazed into your eyes
That are emerald majesty, deeper than any ocean

We met with the crossroads of life
And watched as the world sped about
All in a hurry to go somewhere else
But you and I sat happily in the moment
As we took another breath and

Looking heavenward we stared in awe
As some fanfare of wonder sounded
Blessing those who took the moment to hear it
Lines of music paper crossing the skies
To impress tunes here and beyond

Day 293 - To Be a Martyr

Nobility dose not lay in bright colors
Nor in the way that you died that day
Not in your long list of past lovers
Or the manner in which you caught your prey
Instead it lies in the way you live
The way you treat those in harder times than you
With what you have how much you give
Not in how you die, but in what you do.

Day 283 - Two Options

We can soar to the skies
In the analysis of humankind
Or we can track its demise
Pretending perfection is blind
But faith, too, is blind and pure
No downfall or uprising is secure
Enough to express that we have no say
So let us begin again and create today

Day 271 - Obliterate

And so it all ended in a blast of light
All the anger and love, joy and fright
Faded out to leave nothing in its wake
Everything to give, yet nothing to take
For when everything is a blinding white
There is nothing more for human sight

Day 264 - Sunflower Fields Fading

The years grow shorter and tired now
Petals close upon memories that set with the sun
Away from the summer light life pulls you
Your own princess begins her journey
And your energy is used up helping her
As she bursts into bloom the way all children do
It is your laughing husband spinning his daughter about
When you return to your quiet sunflower fields
It is making way for life, as it surrenders its own

You are still learning from this place even today
Wrapped in a cardigan in hopes of not fading with the wind
Your precious flowers have had a long life of brightness
They with time grow less stocky and you find yourself following suit
You show your daughter how to eat the delicious seeds
And she laughs out loud, shaking them for music, growing faster every day
You slide some seeds under her pillow tonight, for sweet dreams
And under your own as you used to save pressed petals in your books
Planning to take them out to bring your field to life again, you smile

Day 245 - A Stairway To Heaven

One at a time even less than that
No need to rush the steps you take
Again you wipe your feet on the mat
Hoping not to defile this for your own sake
You comprehend so very little here
Though each move towards the light erases fear

In black in white it seems too plain
You cannot pull your eyes away
To gaze here your life you train
And still you have only nothings to say
"I'm sorry" or perhaps "now I know"
Depending when you walk into this show

only your own inner dimensions can you see
of this ongoing blindness that is before you
you create the patches and vision on this journey
so the lessons you begin to learn are the truest of true
the blurring edges seem intimidating at best
but at some levels they provide a kind of rest

That cools the heartbeat this place misses
By only containing a soul and a mind
The quietness is the serenity of kisses
Such things are never clearly defined
For that would promise too much knowing
Abandoning the hope of this glowing

Grieving and perfected place
That has only up and down to peruse
Laughing when you try to race
Like the spark along the fuse
You will not feel your end consume you
For none who come here ever do

Day 164 - Momentary Paradise

There is a paradox in this paradise
That filters like the sun through the blades
Something so malicious and precise
That life before your eyes fades
The light still rims seeming perfection
Someone lies dreaming of correction

That would fix the tragic reality
That man has woven into this place
Disregarding his own mortality
With a grim look upon his face
He pollutes this once hopeful haven
Blackening life like the wings of a raven

But for this moment life is still
Forgetting the factories of smoke
Ignoring the angry and vicious will
That with oil and methane our earth soak
Taking away the colorful sights
All for the glowing city lights

Day 158 - Hole to Escape

Emerging comes the whitest hole
That calls adventurers in
Enticing is the complete goal
Of picture perfect happy sin
Reflecting upon dark splotches past
Racing down into memories that last

Serenity is clear and light
No need for the outer world's existence
Just goes on living bright
No need for earthly persistence
Instead just calm and sitting water
And we need not a single drop more

Day 154 - Bending Bricks

I wish our walls could bend at ease
That brick by brick they were built for flexibility
But not all can be as I please
Day by day that becomes easier and easier to see
The arch made there is a compromise
One that the wall made for the land
But bricks and dirt have no knowing eyes
And take much less to understand
Walls are sturdier than I can be day after day
Because I was not made to weather rain
I was made to hear and search for the sweet things to say
And learn to muster paths away from pain
We cannot bend as the walls do
We can only search for what is true

Day 149 - Too Quiet and Old

In a quiet old room, sit two quiet old chairs
Much too old and quiet to encourage more stares
But once upon a time long ago that pot
Was formed by hands so very well taught
The woman who made it fashioned that lace
With meticulous care and hands full of grace
Those chairs that you see where made by a man
One who ardently did all that one can
To build the perfect home for his one and only
So if he ever need leave she would not be lonely
By that bright window they held their first child
And many more who came after keeping life wild
Very little is the house old and quiet anymore
Rushing and bustle with grandchildren is in store
But every once in a while a great hush can be found
Then husband and wife sit old and quiet around
The table and chairs and soft worn old lace
Lovingly their hands make a sweet embrace
He whispers to her, "I know we are quiet and old
But ours is the best love story ever told."

Day 91 - At Last Gone

At Last Gone

Broken memories falling down
All the lives from this small town
Are now forgotten here
No one lasts to shed a tear
When do you at last no longer live?
When you have no more left to give
And no more is given for you
It is then that your life is through
But the light shed down from heaven
Brightening the bluest of sky
Proves that not all is broken
There are still those souls soaring high

Day 70 - Window World

Window World
Box up the world in your window
The panes will keep things clear
They provide for the safest show
Steering far away from your fear
That things rush in much too quick
Like the flame consumes the wick

Tie up the moments in ribbon
Keep them well confined
Mark down your next of kin
Organize your crazy mind
For death can snatch it all away
How were you spending your last day?

If you dare venture out you shall discover
That the box is always too small
Until you are in the arms of another
You will forever miss the call
To let your moments fly high and free
To embrace what is yet to be

Day 65 - Stepping Softly

Stepping Softly

Take the steps one by one
As the ocean learns to take the sun
Reflect on the path that you choose to make
For one day it might be your path another will take
You may see them only as soft footprints in the sand
But they are markers of where you chose to stand
There is a message in all that we do and say
That states who we are until the last day
Within every breath that helps us to live
There is something sweet we give
And the glory of honest sight?
Opens to the sun's light

Day 64 - Gesher Gadol --גשׁר גדוֹל

Gesher Gadol -- גשׁר גדוֹל

Slow down darling it will zoom by
Here are moments that will not last forever
The picture perfect shade of sky
The times that we stand together
They have their limits though that is dark
Each distinct person will leave their mark
~
The road we take sounds so cliché
For every poet writes such verses
But there is brilliance in each day
When one truly immerses
Into the mystery love beckons out
Calling us to dance all about
~
The soundtrack of our lives is playing
As the montage of memories reviews
There are so many things it is saying
Swirling in so many fiery hues
This is just the bridge between times
Not even the completion of all the rhymes
~
Do not speed past or make haste
There is so much living to be done
In our wishes and eyes much is encased
Glowing like the setting sun
The answer we need not discover
As long as we stand with one another

Day 60 - We're Alive

We're Alive
Don't you ever wonder when this road will end
As we stare into the infinite light
Doesn't the question come to mind, friend?
When we travel into the rushing night
Which spurns us on with an electric energy
All the moments that happened before
Everything that brought with it humanity
And all that is still waiting in store
It pulses down into our veins
Addressing the very core of our being
As we speed down these lanes
Mostly watching, hardly ever seeing
Keep it moving and we shall thrive
Declaring to all others "We're alive!"

Day 48 - Free Flowers?

Free Flowers?

I only ask for flowers when it is cold
And love stories still untold
I only wish for a new star in the sky
So that no special moments will pass me by
I only need a life like no other
All these are exhaustions for a lover
Yet you bring me flowers when it is freezing
You never scold me when I am too teasing
You think I am that celestial light
You wish upon me sweet dreams every night
In asking for the impossible I show
That such things cannot yet in my heart grow
So now I want everything else to be gone
Only for this moment to live on
But I see you in the corner turning the clock
So that into this instant we can lock
The only thing you cannot give to me
Is my unheard wish to be free
To fly away, high and soar
To things I could never ask for

Day 47 - The Answer

Today I would like to express a special thanks to Andrea Gibson, (author of "Say Yes" a poem for our age and our lives, our souls and our joys) for her astounding work and Matt Gordon for sharing it with me. With that being said here is today's poem. ~ The Poet

The Answer

Were you looking or did you simply see
How we are growing into humanity
In every breath that we exhale together
We find another shard of forever

If you have the answer than something is not right
Because such wisdom comes from living out of sight
And you are able to gaze through absolutely everything
Pulling in all the notes that before we never dared to sing

The light behind you captivates me
But the shadow is all we ought to dare see
However someone along the line taught me differently
So I view it all with closed eyes magnificently

The truth lies every moment of every day
So many honest things we wish to say
Are hidden beneath brows that too often furrow
Which one would hate to believe might bring us low

Yet in the same brow is every ounce of hope we could ask for
The answer is found stashed away in the hidden store
Which also keeps treasures like glitter and dreams
Bound all together in the perfect package it seems

This package breathes and lives, growing
It is contentedly not all-knowing
It holds only the answers we together might understand
It comes to a glowing finale as the world stands hand in hand
