Day 303 - Anywhere America

Hop in your truck, car or van

Hurry get moving as fast as you can

This day is not going to wait for you

After all in the real world few things do

They speed up on the old turnpike

Pedal to the floor, urging the engine faster

Unaware of how we did when young with only a bike

It would seem today, to be the worst disaster

Power resides in the lines that guide drivers

Without them we would all turn into colliders

Hundreds around the country can say

This road is like that one I get on every day

Day 181 - Fragrances of Freedom

The perfect petals a picture paint

Trying desperately to once again frame

Something simple yet not at all quaint

That here we call by another name

"America the land of opportunity"

That is how here, we define free

Fragrances of freedom fill our noses

Of hot dogs and warm apple pies

Sweeter than the smell of posies and roses

This should come as no surprise

Like countries everywhere we hold pride

Of blues and whites and red as our blood inside

Stars and sayings, match vibrant streamers

That flutter upon the streets today

Inspiring the most patriotic of dreamers

And words for all the players to say

Even more delightful things for the poets to write

Will burst into stars, brightening the skies tonight
