Day 329 - Dreams of You

Things are so different in the night
You enchant me in the soft light
You whisper the stars down from on high
You put your eyes twinkle into the sky
You inspire me to speak in tongues
You are the scent filling my lungs
In this dream you are the sun and the moon
You are my midnight and my blazing hot noon
You are all that ever need be
You are everything that I see
The flowers turn to the shade of your hair
So golden and perfect in the night air
The rivers run deep in the blue of your eyes
The blush in your cheeks makes the sun rise
And I write on forever, only of you
For nothing else matters, or could be as true.

Day 319 - The Locket

The Locket

Tarnished it sits in a velvet chest
Ages since it was remembered last
Emblazoned with an ancient crest
Opening reveals a long faded past
Of a girl with brown locks and her love
For the boy with the crooked grin
Years ago he was sent up above
The separation of the pair such a sin

She used to wear it with pride
Shining on the silver chain
All the arguments they had tried
Were simply made in vain
A pair like theirs could not be split
By mere things like class and race
On her parents porch she used to sit
Eager for a glimpse of his face

The month that he died, when the car hit
Shattered her world and drowned her in tears
Intoning time and again, I won’t believe it
They had promised one another years.
Years it took for her to finally let go
Finding her place in a world of the living
Where she would not bury herself in snow
Where she could go on, always giving

Giving that boy with that smile
The place in her heart forever more
Walking the road, mile by mile
Finding at last a family in store
Raising them, with all the love she had
Left from her boy who went to the sky
Too early, too soon and much too sad
She will join him, when life lets her die

Day 233 - Ancient Everglade

Modern girl, ancient place
So many stories to be told
How we adore you and this place
Framed by your curls of gold
Darkened corners seem to be
The core of this loving mystery

Who is the girl with the smile so wide
In this forest of growing secrets
Do they even have anything to hide?
Before the ageless sun once again sets
Low to bring in even deeper metals
Richer than the most royal of rose petals

Some color seems lost in this memory
Something hiding just below the light
Almost the scent of life so summery
It dares only now to hide from sight
Yet still a memory worth recalling
In the end tipping us down, to falling

Into the arms of another someone again
That this place gleefully whispers of
A haven you will to return to and then
Redefine the boundaries of your love
That are shadowed through rose colored shades
In the most wondrous of all stone formed glades
