Day 232 - Only Paper

I am disappearing
But no one seems to notice
Even I cannot truly feel it
As though I never existed

It is not how they describe death
No, rather just air being
In a place untraditional it seems
But after all

I am only made of paper
To slice up and throw away
Leaving nothing more than vapor
Or so I wish they would say

I hold on to what is staying
Sort of waiting until I fade
Even more, because it happens
And that is just fine

For ordinary history
Such as mine, always leaving
In portals through our heads
That memory claims to control

I am only made of paper
To slice up and throw away
Leaving nothing more than vapor
Or so I wish they would say

But they will not, say anything
Just watch me, wash me, away
That is what I meant in the end
As I am disappearing

Day 185 - Symmetry

Balance me out to a face of faces
And take me to the place of places
You see the blue living in me
Leaving barely breathing traces
Of a world gone certainly mad
But such discoveries are not always bad

Here it stands still for hours
Less of a statement surely only cowers
Though too dry for a place of water
In every bit of everything there are powers
That promise a better time is coming soon
But can never keep pace with their own tune

Tied up in love like shoe laces
Life giving blood and light races
Mentioning the essence of life
That every dynamic one day embraces
To finish off moments easily glad
Grateful for all the moments they had

Day 84 - Grainy Reality

Grainy Reality
The film may blur but the light still glows
Giving out wisdom and all it knows
It still dares pierce the dark
Leaving its own simple mark
Light calls upon so much within us
Some say it was created to begin us
To polish this grainy reality ever more
Revealing the most brilliant core

Day 83 - Hiding Happiness

Hiding Happiness
Do not cross or you might see
The answers they hide from you and me
Cross over and you shall be free
To discover the secret to being happy
“Stand behind yellow line”
Everything will be just fine
Follow every last simple sign
Ignore what it is for which you pine
Worn away from the feet that step upon it
There is black marked and scarred on it
But those who dare to step all the way
They have far too much to say
That is silenced by the dark track
They went far away and never came back

Day 70 - Window World

Window World
Box up the world in your window
The panes will keep things clear
They provide for the safest show
Steering far away from your fear
That things rush in much too quick
Like the flame consumes the wick

Tie up the moments in ribbon
Keep them well confined
Mark down your next of kin
Organize your crazy mind
For death can snatch it all away
How were you spending your last day?

If you dare venture out you shall discover
That the box is always too small
Until you are in the arms of another
You will forever miss the call
To let your moments fly high and free
To embrace what is yet to be

Day 43 - Majestic

Majestic

Majesty itself cannot be defined
For it only exists in the human mind
Hypnotize the honesty into traveling far away
Save the candid speech for another day
I am king of all that surrounds this space
Mine is the path that you cannot trace
Wandering off into the bright paradise
No one but you may pay the price
For my own kind revel in my pride
As my beauty flares up from the inside
Check your envy at the door
There is not room here for it anymore
Follow me quietly if you so dare
Closing your eyes begin to recite your prayer
We will last forever right here and now
Without any explanation of why or how

Day 24 - Just Beyond the Door

Smiling secrets hide behind solid oak
Crafted by the elegant elven folk
Within the brass is sturdy heart
Knocking with this piece can cause a start
If you dare enter there is much to see
A world beyond the imagination of you and me
So the door stops us before we enter
Bringing us to meditation at the center
Of our beings that long to explore
We need so much more than we dare ask for

Brass gazes at us almost smiling
It has a face that is playfully beguiling
It sends a message you word rather ignore
All hidden behind this mighty oak door
Do not ask for what you know you need not
Otherwise within their mysteries you will be caught
The elven folk play a silent game of chivalry
Weaving it all into silver tongued clarity
But alas we mere mortals shall never know
How far the world behind this door can go

Day 3 - Eye of the Beholder

Whispers of dread fill the dull sky
Fading between lines of slumbering trees
Farther away you hear a small cry
That is brushed away on a gentle breeze
This wintry wonder holds not an ounce of hope
It refuses your pleas to find a method to cope
With the nightmares that never cease
Rather mere wisps of light fill your view
They are dwarfed by despair and lack peace
The darkness shrouds all else from you
But now it changes as we look for the white
You can just feel the coming of light
Far in those trees the crying has come to a halt
You find a small smile playing softly on your face
Someone has labored to stop the sad fault
And release the anger that had in kindness no place
You appreciate now the darkness as serene
Knowing the glory in what is heard, though unseen

Day 1

Stark death and crackling memories
That is all they manage to see in me

Sad story songs and pitiful melodies
O that is all the young ones can ever see
But listen young one I have stayed strong
Through all of these storms and biting winds
I have made it out through the trials so long
So even now I know that new life begins
My hardy exterior it does scream
Things that you are terrified by
It has halted many a midsummer’s dream
Catching the soft artists’ eye
I have a tale that I tell so well
In which I am the last standing hope in this place
Of a kingdom that finally to ruins fell
There I was not horrid or a disgrace
There I healed all that I could
I made a difference and strong I stood
