Day 327 - Freedom

Just try to yell a little bit louder
I can almost hear your soul's glee
Just laugh a smidgen prouder
Feeling the true moment, you're free
Dance your heart out until the end
Of the beginnings we all find ourselves in
No greater message to send
Than the reign of love can begin
I can see it twinkling in your smiles
Its embrace made by your hands
Gone for this time are all the trials
Right this second the world understands
Your soul is soaring with every beat
In this moment you are complete

Day 315 - Musical Candy

Sunset shades of a melody hoping
To pour out into the far too silent room
Flying from the fingertips of one, eloping
Times of jazz with a breath to pierce the gloom
Spreading the song of a sweet licorice stick
The most potent and mysterious of music

Day 295 - Lines in the Air

Follow that line into oblivion
We can travel anywhere
Somewhere no one else has found
We can walk off until the horizon shrinks
Because we have met a corner of the world

We made it all the way to the top
Of this sphere that is always turning
And the tiny icicle like clouds
They are each filled to the brim (and beyond
Their fluffy borders), with magic undiscovered

Today someone set the world afire
And burned our memories with beauty
That is inconceivable except
To those who have gazed into your eyes
That are emerald majesty, deeper than any ocean

We met with the crossroads of life
And watched as the world sped about
All in a hurry to go somewhere else
But you and I sat happily in the moment
As we took another breath and

Looking heavenward we stared in awe
As some fanfare of wonder sounded
Blessing those who took the moment to hear it
Lines of music paper crossing the skies
To impress tunes here and beyond

Day 285 - Then You Came Along

Honestly I stopped looking, long ago
For that bright piece of my day, that glow
But lying next to you I begin to see
Just how wondrous the small things can be.
That strand of pink in your hair
Causes me, daily, to stop and stare
At the golden partners surrounding it
My heart comes more alive in my chest, pounding it
In a smooth rhythm you would adore
So I sit down at your piano once more.
Your piano keys play the strings of my heart
My fingers find the right ones and start
To lay down all the wonders there
Of how you and I became a pair
Notes are expressing it just right today
And so louder and louder I begin to play
To awaken you gently from sleep, sunshine
How blessed I am to call you mine.

Day 258 - Piano City Keys

I weep I cry
Searching for the inside
No more blue sky
Just one more way to be denied
Don't play me like I'm ivory trust
To pour your fingers across
I am not silver, only iron prone to rust
Any tune within I, is a loss
The black keys of this city can't save me
They only echo my anguished plea

Let us try to light up the sky
From this low and dark place
Perhaps we will do more than try
And astonish this city square into grace
From the simplicity of parking lots
We have the hope of our generation
Tied into a thousand digital knots
Without any hope of explanation
We play an unfamiliar melody
Across the photographed piano city key

Day 254 - Vinyl Child

Dedicated to Ryan
Also to my parents and family who made me into the vinyl child I am

The soothing pop of vinyl
Is the lullaby of my youth
No harsh digital perfection
Only living, feeling, truth

The trust in the music
That flows with life around it
The warble of the folk voice
And the pride to sound it

Here is to the times we lived
In awe dancing to those songs
Growing up on the tunes and artists
Who righted all the wrongs

That buzz and fizz that echoes
Makes me trust in the person there
Strumming life into strings
Beating drums and filling the living air

With lullabies for every being
And for my children when they grow
Spinning, blurring on the turntable
The soothing pop, and hiss so low

Day 163 - Gross Excess

Too much is never enough
To keep us living in the rough
The chip, the scratch, it was too old
It has been far too long since it was sold
These thoughts plague us into wanting ever more
But watching such behaviors we ask what for?
The music sounds the same from each
Blasting or humming, it has the same reach
Still the same tune and melody
So what is it that we crave, honestly?
The new, the hype, the shiny beeping, buzzing toy
Should be in the hands of every American girl and boy
Or so scream the signs and advertisements that choke
Our society so heavily we can no longer revoke
Our money or insane shopping spree games
Forever trying to buy ourselves the names
That we build up, or hope to in our lifetime
Lost often when we wasted our prime
But you can hopefully say you see progression
A moving economy during our recession
Still I admit we could easily live with less
But then even I, participate in the gross excess

Day 85 - Pandora Possibilities

Pandora Possibilities

There lies a plain box, that is all
Yet it has such an alluring call
That teasingly insists, "Open me,
"Who knows the wonders you may see?"
There is always another mystery beckoning
Fighting with our mature and sound reckoning
After all curiosity is the nature of man
How did we learn what we cannot and can?
But by opening our minds to molding
And the paper box gently unfolding
Are you ready for adventure to spring out?
You may hear profound music or scream and shout
But until you open the box you will never know
So three, two, one and here we go

Day 69 - Magic Garden

Magic Garden
The path that twists around this bend
Greets the sprites to join and dance
Calling quietly out to each friend
Laughing with the cupids of romance
There is magic in this quiet place
Speeding up the growing pace

If you listen you can heard the sound
A rustle as the ivy climbs the stone
Twisting and twirling tightly bound
Nature's breath in this particular tone
And in the reviving happy green
All the small garden gnomes are seen

Day 26

If all the music was not cut short as if sweet
Life would learn all the moments we meet
Should be greeted with tunes to purify us one and all
No long allowing our passionate convictions to stall
Instead we shall spur them onward in hopes of truth
The true voices of dreams, faith, and the youth
Take up your song, it has been cut short so cruelly
Blaze the path to the unwavering and unruly
The note shall never fade to tired dust
If we give it breath, which is a must
